Billie Pendleton Nelson

Billie Pendleton Nelson, 94, of Friendswood, Texas went to her eternal home with the Lord on November 10, 2021.    A lifelong resident of Strong and El Dorado, she was living in the Morada Friendswood memory care facility for the last 5 years till her passing.  She was born in El Dorado and graduated from El Dorado High School in 1945 after which she worked as a secretary for Lion Oil Company.

Billie was a longtime member of the Strong Methodist church where she served as a youth Sunday school teacher for many years and sang in the choir.  She later attended the St. Marks United Methodist church in El Dorado when she and her husband, Harold, moved to El Dorado.   Billie was an accomplished seamstress, a great cook, and an avid walker.   She loved tending her plants, being outdoors, reading, listening to gospel music, and visiting with friends.    Weekly family gatherings and holiday celebrations were of special importance to her and created many treasured memories. 

Billie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost 70 years, Harold C. Nelson, her parents, Gus and Nell Pendleton, and three sisters, Margaret Pendleton Dumas (Fred), Virginia Pendleton, and Bernell Pendleton Webb (Homer).   

She is survived by her son David Nelson (Donna) of El Lago, TX, and a nephew Mark Webb (Nancy) and their daughter Whitney Webb Boozer (Brock) of Fort Smith AR. 

Visitation will be held at Young’s Funeral Directors in El Dorado at 9 a.m. on Saturday November 13 with the funeral service at 10 a.m. with Rev. Winston Roden and Rev. Hugh Nelson officiating.   Interment will follow at the Strong City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Faith Community Hospice and Morada Friendswood for the care they provided.   Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Mark UMC at 2010 W. Hillsboro St.  in El Dorado.
