Howard Lee Ramsey passed away on January 3, 2022 doing what he loved most, taking care of his heard of cows on a tractor at the ripe old age of 70. He was born July 5, 1951 in El Dorado, AR to Ralph Ramsey and Ida Bell Hinson Ramsey.
Howard graduated from Smackover High School. From an early age, Howard worked in the Smackover Oil Fields for Ramsey Contractors as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He was a member of the Standard Umstead Fire Department for many years. A lover of country life, Howard was always busy. You may have seen him in a dump truck practically anywhere in South Arkansas, at the river, or on his farm. No matter who or where you where, if Howard was around; there were smiles, laughter, and “Wow’s”!
Left to miss his smiling face and kind words are his wife of 36 years, Laurlyn Alphin Ramsey, his pride and joy, Taylor Lee Ramsey; brothers, Bo and Jerry (Debbie) Ramsey, sister, Rhonda Ramsey Dorflinger of Smackover, sister-in-laws, Marla Ramsey of Hot Springs and Dohnna Alphin Williams (Robby Jo) of Norphlet; and a slew of cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Those meeting him at the Pearly Gates were his beloved mother, father, brother, Ralph Ramsey, Jr; father and mother-in-law, Don and Margaret Alphin.
Howard loved God, his life, family, and friends. You may join them in celebrating his hard-working legacy and beautiful life at Young’s Funeral Chapel Thursday, January 6, 2022. Visitation will be at 1:00 a memorial will follow at 2:00pm.
