Marcella Leona Perdue, 84, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at the
John R. Williamson Hospice House. She was born on October 24, 1938 in Dewitt, Arkansas to Illison Jerl Mitchell, Sr. and Mary Satterly.
Before her retirement she worked in accounting at Lion Oil and before that was the Financial Secretary at First United Methodist Church where she was an active member for 51 years. She was a crafter and loved to sew, cross stich, crochet, and make jewelry. She loved birds and enjoyed sharing the bird feeder duties with her great grandson, Zechariah. Her great granddaughter, Brianna enjoyed assisting her in the craft room, and both of the children helped tremendously with her care in her last years. Marcella loved her church and her family and was selfless in her devotion to both.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband who was the love of her life for 55 years, Billy Gene Perdue; her brother, Jerl Mitchell, Jr.; and her son-in-law, Larry Silkwood.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Richard Jerl Bussey (Lou Ann); her daughter, Linda Silkwood; her sister, Mary Frances Spencer; her step-sister, Wanda Cardinal; her grandchildren, Audra Smith (Brad), Clint Bussey (Jessica), Mitch Bussey (Chelsey), Laura Silkwood White (Jonathon); 15 great grandchildren; and 5 granddogs.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 19 at First United Methodist Church, 201 S. Hill St., El Dorado, Arkansas. A gathering with the family will be held after the service at the church.
