Relda Newsom Bateman, age 89, of El Dorado, Arkansas passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023 at Hudson Nursing Home. Relda was born in El Dorado, AR, on February 2, 1934 the daughter of James Marshall and Tressie Knowles Newsom.
She enjoyed reading and spent many years traveling during her husband's military career. Relda was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church and a homemaker.
Relda was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 55 years, Tom Bateman; sisters, Betty Rhyan and Mary Slaughter; and brother, Robert Newsom.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Beth Frisby (David) and Leslie Clawson (Paul) all of El Dorado; her son, Stephen Bateman (Carol) of Little Rock; sister, Marsha Lynn Odom of Crookston, MN; 5 grandchildren, Matthew Clawson (Mandy), Richard Frisby, Elizabeth Nations (Eric), Kevin Clawson (Beth), Rachel Stanberry (Jeffery); and 9 great grandchildren, Kayden Clawson, Kambrie Clawson, Kash Clawson, Ryker Nations, Cooper Nations, Nathan Clawson, Eli Clawson, Maverick Stanberry and Maddox Stanberry.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Friday May 19, 2023 at Arlington Memorial Park with Father Robert Wetherington officiating, under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors. Visitation will begin at 10:30 at the cemetery.
