Alice Marie Baker, 82, of El Dorado, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Timberlane Health and Rehabilitation. She was born on December 8, 1940 to William Marcus and Lilla Mae Donahue Byrd in El Dorado, AR.
She retired from Milam Construction, where she worked as a secretary and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Handbell Choir. Alice was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, Alpha Xi Chapter for 53 years, serving from president to secretary. She loved working puzzles, doing needlepoint and knitting with her sister, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Edward Earl Baker; sisters, Joyce Byrd Brown, Ruth Ann Byrd Harvey; and grandson, George Timothy Britt, II.
Survivors include her one daughter, Rebecca Kimberly Britt of El Dorado; two sons, Edward Keith Baker (Julie) of Cut And Shoot, TX, Marcus Alexander Baker of New York City, NY; four grandchildren, Katherine Marie Britt, William Keith Britt, John Phillip Hardy, Jay Paul Hardy; and one great grandchild, Kash Jaxon Britt.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Young's.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Janice West officiating. Burial will follow at Fredonia Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
