Annie Maide Pearson

Annie Maude Pearson, 92 of Norphlet, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at South Arkansas Regional Hospital in El Dorado, AR.

Born October 14, 1931 in Norphlet, AR she was the daughter of Grady Pierce and Jewel Mae Porter Phillips.  Ann spent a life of dedication to her church. She was baptized as a child at Joyce City Baptist Church and is a current member of Calvary Baptist Church in Homer, LA.

She attended school at Standard Umstead and graduated from Smackover High School.

Ann married her first love, O.L. Pearson in 1954 and began her journey as a coach’s wife. They finally settled in Texarkana, AR to raise their family. After retirement, O.L. and Ann moved to Lake Claiborne in Homer, LA, where they spent many years enjoying life on the lake. In recent years they returned to Smackover to live close to their family.

Ann was a Homemaker whose greatest joy was taking care of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a passionate genealogist and enjoyed trips to “dig up bones”. She formed many connections with distant relatives through her love of family research. She also was renowned for her tech savviness. “Cyber Granny” was always spreading joy, keeping in touch with friends and family through social media.

Preceding her in death along with her parents were her husband, O. L. Pearson, brothers, Herbert, James, Roy and Martin Phillips, a sister, Hilda Teer and a son-in-law, Eddie Berry.

Survivors include her four children, Tommy Pearson (Linda) of Smackover, Mary Ann Scoggins (Randy) of Norphlet, Suzy Berry of Hot Springs, and Frank Pearson (Dorie) of Texarkana, TX.  Also surviving is one sister, Mary Nelson (Robert) of Homer, LA and a sister-in-law, Glenda Phillips of Minden, LA. Her legacy will continue through 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends Friday, August 30, 2024 at First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2024 at Smackover Cemetery with Rev. Robin Roark officiating.  Interment will follow under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.  Serving as pallbearers are Michael Pearson, Todd Pearson, Cody Scoggins, Cole Pearson, Cade Pearson, and Colby Pearson.  Honorary pallbearers are Heath Arnold, Jason Arnold, Cody Cozart, and Dustin Dethlefs and Billy Blair.
