Ben Fish

Ben Fish, 93, of El Dorado passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at his residence.  Born November 4, 1931 in Bolivar, TN, he was the son of John Hardeman and Nora Maude Donaldson Fish.

Ben was the youngest of six children.  His sister Iona carried him around until his feet nearly touched the ground.  When Ben and his brothers reached high school they excelled in basketball.   They were so good that the neighboring county wanted them to play for them so bad that they bought the Fish brothers a car to drive themselves to their school.

Following high school graduation Ben joined the US Army, serving in Korea at Heartbreak Ridge.  After his service time Ben married the love of his life Carole in Tennessee to begin a 52 year marriage while having two beautiful daughters, Benita and Kimberly.  They later moved to Monroe, LA and then to El Dorado, AR to continue his grocery brokerage career founding Brookings Brokerage.

To know Ben was to love him.  He never met a stranger and enjoyed traveling for work.  There wasn’t a grocery store anywhere in the south that did not know Ben Fish.  He left a lasting impression on anyone and everyone he met.

Preceding him in death along with his parents were his wife, Carol Fish, a daughter, Kimberly Lee Fish, brothers, Gene, Vernon, and Austin Fish along with sisters, Pauline Taylor and Iona Marbry.

Survivors include his daughter, Benita Bush (Marty) of El Dorado, a granddaughter, Jessica Carlock (James) of Leslie, AR. a grandson, Jason Bridges (Megan) of El Dorado, along with great-grandchildren, Madison Burgess, Ashlynn Green, Brandon Green, Ethan Bridges, Addison Bridges, James Carlock, Jr. and Aaron Carlock and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 7, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Young's.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 8, 2025 in Young's Chapel with Rev.
