Carl Glenn McElwee

Carl Glenn McElwee, 68, of El Dorado passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at his residence.

Born October 19, 1954 in New Orleans, LA, he was  the son of Carl Roland and Barbara Johnson McElwee.  After 32 years employment, Glenn had retired from Great Lakes Chemical.  After retirement he was the operator of Advanced Duct Cleaning.  As a member of the Vinson Deer Club, Glenn counted down the days until squirrel, turkey and deer season started.  He loved staying in his camper in the middle of the woods, being one with nature.  A deer stand was his favorite hangout.  He enjoyed watching wildlife through a rifle scope or on his camera.  Always hoping "ole big" would walk out, he patiently let bucks walk.  He won the camp big buck contest almost every year.

Glenn was a Harley Davidson biker until his health declined.  He loved to ride any chance he could get.  In 1984 he headed the the Toys for Tots Motorcycle Run in Union County.

Glenn spent most Thursday nights playing poker with his brother and friends.  If he wasn't watching Razorback or Saints football, he was watching Gunsmoke or Cheyenne with his best gal, Pearl.

After years of battling a chronic illness, Glenn was given a second chance at life when he was blessed by an organ donor.

Preceding him in death along with his parents was a grandchild, Austin McElwee.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa McElwee, a son, Brian Francis (Stephanie), three daughters, Kelly Ashcraft (Denton), Lauri Anders (Brandon), and Ashley McElwee (James Parker) all of El Dorado.  Also surviving are two brothers, Billy McElwee of Maumelle, AR and Gary McElwee (Vicki) of El Dorado and a sister, Beth Romig of Long Beach, MS.

Glenn is also survived by twelve grandchildren; Taylor Ashcraft (Brinkley), Drew Waller (Katie), Haley Johnson (Daniel), Kaylin Waller (David Martin), Kara Francis, Logan Anders, Kolin Parker, Conner Anders, Brintley Parker, Blaine Francis, Gracie Parker, and Kason Francis along with great-grandchildren, Ashton Waller, Beau Martin, Stetson Waller and in November Georgia Johnson is expected to arrive.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to service time at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2023 at Young's Chapel.  Interment will follow in Old Parker's Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
