Jesse M. Bates Jr., born December 29,1938 in El Dorado Arkansas, passed away January 23, 2026 at the age of 87, at his El Dorado home.
Mr. Bates was the vice-president and a project manager at ICC, an industrial painting firm in Prairieville Louisiana. He had served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard.
He was a faithful follower and servant of his lord and savior Jesus Christ, and was a longtime member of El Dorado's First Assembly of God Church.
He was the son of Jesse M. Bates Sr. and Tommie Osborne Bates.
Preceding him in death along with his parents was his brother, Bobby Bates.
Survivors include his wife of 67 1/2 years, Gerry Bates of El Dorado, three sons: Michael Bates (Annette) of Gonzales, LA, Jeffrey Bates (Tracie) of Ellenton, FL and Greg Bates (Jonna) of Smackover and a brother, Richard Bates (Linda) of El Dorado, AR.
Surviving grandchildren are Caleb Bates (Rebekah), Benjamin Bates (Shae), Jessica Tyler (Jeremy), Jonathan Bates (Glenda), Javier Bates (Alyssa), and Matthew Bates (Emily) along with ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held beginning at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 29, 2026, with funeral services to follow at 12:00 noon at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Daniel Egger and Rev. Greg Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
