Perry L. Toombs, 79, of Norphlet, AR, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Perry was born on October 30, 1945.
Perry graduated from Norphlet High School in 1963 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accounting from Southern State College in 1968. That same year he went to work for Murphy Oil Corporation as a tax accountant. While working for Murphy, he simultaneously performed mechanic work from his home. When early retirement was offered from Murphy Oil Corporation in 1992, he took full advantage of the opportunity and went on to dive full-time into automotive mechanic work from his shop known as Toombs Garage where he went on to gain certification as an ASE Master Mechanic. He very much enjoyed time spent in his shop and had a unique skill and passion for working on automobiles, but always had a soft spot for the Ford Bronco. Perry loved being outdoors and therefore also enjoyed hunting and fishing. But more than all these things, he loved his family and went above and beyond to be a great provider for them.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Othelda Toombs, sister Barbara Wages, wife Fran Toombs, and grandson Carson Arrington.
He is survived by his wife Kathy Toombs, sister Judy Harper (husband Sonny), children Kelly Arrington (husband Kevin), Kerry Means (husband Doug), Mark Toombs (wife Jenny), 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Young's Funeral Directors.
