Sarah Pickering Cameron

On December 4, 2025, Sarah Pickering Cameron died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.

A lifelong resident of Parkers Chapel, she was born on July 17, 1929 to George Dewey and Lou Anna Pickering. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles, her son Sam, six brothers, and one sister.

Sarah was a lifelong member of Parkers Chapel Christian Church. She relished her role as a wife, mother, homemaker, PTA mom, Extension Homemakers Club member, and legendary cook. She enjoyed cheering for her children and grandchildren at Parkers Chapel sporting events and was an avid baseball fan who rarely missed a Houston Astros broadcast.

Survivors include her daughters: Cathy and Anita Cameron of North Little Rock, and Beth (Chuck) Weldon of El Dorado; sons, Barry (Lisa) Cameron of Parkers Chapel, and Andy (Shandra) Cameron of Cabot, Arkansas. She is also survived by one brother, Chuck Pickering, of Van, Texas. Also left to cherish her memory are a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Sarah, affectionately known as "Nanny", had nine grandchildren who were the light of her life: Casey (Andrew) Trask, Cara (Trey) Rice, Russ (Jordan) Weldon, Erin Cameron, Tyler Cameron, Sarah Weldon, Matthew Cameron, Ben (Lexi) Cameron and Brady Cameron. She also had three precious great-grandchildren: Charlie and Hayes Rice and Savvy Weldon.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the loving care provided over the past 16 months by the entire Life Touch Hospice staff, especially Tessa Monk, Sheena Kimble, Betty Pennington, and Amelia Jackson. Extra special thanks are also extended to neighbors Wanda Smith and Glenda Oliver, special niece Teresa Davis, and to Abby Cate for her faithful ministry while Sarah was homebound.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, at Young's Funeral Home Chapel from 12:30pm to 2:00pm, with funeral services to follow with Rev. Larry Hudson officiating. Immediately after, burial will be at Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery on Parkers Chapel Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Life Touch Hospice, 403 West Oak, Suite 201 in El Dorado, or to the Sarah Cameron Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Union County Community Foundation, PO Box 148, El Dorado, AR or online at www.uccfar.org
