Tommie Jane Baker

Tommie Jane Baker, 97, of El Dorado, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at South Arkansas Regional Hospital. She was born March 3, 1928, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to William Thomas Ray, Sr. and Claudia Adams Ray.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William R. Baker; her son, Harold Baker; her brother, W. T. Ray, Jr.; and her sisters, Christine Palmer and Fay Evans.

 

Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters: Jo Ann White of Sherwood, Arkansas; Brenda Baker of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Kathy Murph (Jerry) of El Dorado, Arkansas. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Kelly Watson (Matt) of Cabot, Arkansas; Amy Anderson (Adam) of Russellville, Arkansas; Whitney Cossio (Robert) of Little Rock, Arkansas; and David Murph (Mackenzie) of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and six great-grandchildren: Kinley Watson, Hayden Watson, Liam Anderson, Jax Anderson, Baker Cossio, and Merritt Cossio.

 

Tommie was a longtime member of West Side Baptist Church. She retired from Sherwin-Williams, where she enjoyed helping customers select paint and wallpaper. While she valued her career, her greatest joy and true calling was being a devoted mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren loved her deeply, and she returned that love with unwavering, kindness, forgiveness, and devotion.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, in Young's Chapel with Rev. Cody Lain and Rev. David Voss officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
