SAU Tech Announces Resignation of Head Baseball Coach Nick Piraino
Camden, AR- Southern Arkansas University Tech (SAU Tech) announces that Head Baseball
Coach Nick Piraino is stepping down from his position.
Coach Piraino led the SAU Tech baseball program for three seasons, highlighted by a milestone
in 2026 when the team earned its first-ever appearance in the Regional Tournament. As a leader
of the young baseball program, Piraino was instrumental in the development, helping build and
train a competitive team. In addition to his work with student-athletes, Coach Piraino played a
key role in fostering relationships with community sponsors, whose support has significantly
enhanced and influenced the development of the SAU Tech baseball program.
“Nick has done an outstanding job building the foundation for our baseball program,” said
Athletic Director Chris Coble. “He reached new heights in 2026 by guiding us to our first regional
tournament appearance. Beyond the wins, Nick invested countless hours in improving our
facilities, including reworking our grass field and helping raise funds for the installation of a new
outfield fence. His hard work and dedication to SAU Tech baseball will certainly be missed.”
Per Chris Coble, a national search for the next head baseball coach is underway, with the goal of
continuing the momentum established over the past three seasons. Additional information
regarding the coach search will be released in the next few days.
SAU Tech is a two-year public college located in Camden, Arkansas, committed to providing
quality education and workforce training opportunities in the region. SAU Tech competes in the
National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
