Lewis “Keith” Gunter, 77, of El Dorado, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at his residence. He was born on October 29, 1947, to George L. Gunter Jr. and Shirley Ann Harris Gunter in Conway, Arkansas.
Keith was a proud veteran who served his country with honor. After his service, he worked as a barber at Southern Gentlemen, where he not only cut hair but also shared laughter and stories with everyone who sat in his chair. He was a longtime member of College Avenue Church of Christ.
Keith expressed his love through cooking. His grilled steaks, smoked pulled pork, fried fish, and fried turkey became the stuff of legend among family and friends. He brought people together with food, humor, and a warm, generous heart.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jack Gunter.
He is survived by his wife, Jamie Morgan Gunter of El Dorado; his daughter, Heather Gunter (Sam Hallam) of Seattle, WA; his son, Phillip Gunter of Conway, AR; his brother, Larry Gunter (Sheri Carder), of Lake City, FL; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at College Avenue Church of Christ under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
Memorials may be made to Camp Kurios via College Avenue Church of Christ, 1817 N. College Ave., El Dorado, AR 71730. Keith spent many years volunteering at Camp Kurios, where he taught children to fish, a role that brought him great joy and purpose.
